Dr. Bernard Lynch Attending Digital Smile Design Course Covering the Use of 3D Scanning, Measuring, and Modeling to Create The Optimal Smiles for his Patients

DSD (or Digital Smile Design) is a protocol that makes use of a multifaceted array of tools, technology and techniques to not only model and design an individual's ideal smile and tooth proportions but also help to create actual 3-Dimensional renderings of the finished design, as well as digital renderings of what the designed smile and tooth shapes will look like on the patient before the procedures are even done.

DSD was founded by the renowned Dr. Christian Coachman - author of many published articles on dentistry surrounding esthetics, smile design, implant rehabilitation and more. He has recently been collaborating with many other well known dentists from around the world and continues to perfect and study concepts involving oral rehabilitation, smile design and practical implementation.

Dr. Bernard Lynchis furthering his already expansive education on this protocol to better serve his Northern Virginia patients. The techniques and protocol involved covers Digital Modeling Technology, 3D Design Software, 2D Design Software, Digital Mock-Ups, a broad and dynamic range of digital scanning technologies, rulers and other measuring implements, in order to treatment plan, optimize, model, and deliver the optimal smile for his patients. DSD takes into account the full appearance of the patient. Measurements are taken for the eyes, nose, and chin, the curve of the smile, as well as the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the face - all to achieve as close to complete symmetry of the patient’s smile. This protocol also makes the patient a co-designer of their own treatment, by involving their own objectives, desires, personality and expectations into the design process.
